Iran and Russia cooperate in artificial intelligence research

On September 3, Iranian Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology Hamid Fattahi and Russian Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications Maxim Parshin met and held online talks on cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence research. This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA on September 4. The second meeting of the Russian-Iranian cooperation group in the field of communications and information technology was held online. During the online conference, an Iranian official expressed Iran's interest in cooperation with Russia in the field of artificial intelligence, the organization of electronic government, the arrangement of a smart city and the development of modern business. Speaking about the COVID-19 pandemic in the world, Fattahi noted that the pandemic had led to closer cooperation between countries in the field of communications and information technology. Pointing to the growing relations between Tehran and Moscow, he confirmed that the ministries of both sides had held a number of meetings in this regard, the most important result of which was the quadripartite negotiations between Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
