Belarus will repeat the fate of Ukraine, but there will be differences - economist
If the current president of Belarus leaves his post, the consequences for the economy of Belarus will be similar to the situation that has developed in Ukraine after Kiev made the final choice in favor of Euro-orientation. This was announced to the correspondent by the news agency on August 14 by a leading researcher at the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University Andrei Kolganov. But similar does not mean identical, he emphasized. Because in Belarus, regardless of regime change, the state apparatus controls the situation in the economy much more than it was in Ukraine. And the arrival of foreign capital in Belarus will happen on conditions other than in Ukraine. Of course, regime change will surely lead to a weakening of state control, to a certain freedom of hands for those who try to disrupt the cush on these changes. But although the situation will differ from the Ukrainian one, at the same time the general trend will be similar. As Kolganov explained, if there are Western investments in certain points of the Belarusian economy as a whole, it will weaken, and the standard of living will decrease. Recall, as the news agency reported, earlier economist Alexander Buzgalin said that the shooters of the protests that are now taking place in Belarus are persons similar to those who destroyed the Soviet Union.
