The first hurricane of the season, Hannah weakened to a tropical storm
The first hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean this season, called Hanna, weakened back to a tropical storm. This was announced today, July 26, by the US National Hurricane Warning Center (NHC). Hurricane Hannah is now reported to be located over southern Texas, on the border with Mexico. Only yesterday, Hannah was given hurricane status, but today, being over land, the hurricane weakened back to a tropical storm. Nevertheless, it is still a threat, as it carries heavy showers that can develop into floods and lead to rivers leaving the banks. The maximum wind speed now reaches 96.5 kilometers per hour. The storm itself is moving at a speed of 14.4 kilometers per hour.
