In Grodno, people were again detained at actions in support of prisoners

In the central part of the city of Grodno on the evening of June 26, during an action in support of imprisoned activists and politicians, law enforcement officers detained eight people, two of whom were immediately released. This was reported by the portal TUT.BY. By the time the action began, there were more law enforcement officers on Ozheshko Street in Grodno than the participants in the event (of which there were twenty people), and nearby were autos and minibuses with riot police, journalists said. According to the Belarusian portal, at 19:00 in the center of Grodno there were twenty people. Ten more people were on Lenin Square. People stood on the sidewalk on Ozheshko Street, two autos approached them, from which police officers left. Law enforcement officers warned people standing near the fence of the city park that the event was unauthorized, reports TUT.BY. After some time, the protesters moved to Lenin Square, where, opposite the building of the regional executive committee, they detained a young man who had a poster with the inscription Stop cockroach in his hands. A few minutes later, several more young people were detained, and then a 16-year-old teenager who unsuccessfully tried to escape from law enforcement officers. The events lasted about two hours, after which people separated. After the event, the activist of the team of presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya Pavel Milkovsky was also detained. And before the start of the action, Evgeny Ampleev, a member of the Tikhanovskaya initiative group, was detained in Grodno. According to the human rights organization Vesna, the detainee was taken to the Leninsky District Police Department, a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up on him. Before the trial, which is due to take place on Monday, June 29, he will be in a temporary detention center.
