German regulator BNA released Nord Stream 2 from EU gas directive

The Federal Network Agency of Germany (BNA) decided to exempt the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from the application of the European Union gas directive. This was announced today, May 20, by the press service of the gas pipeline operator Nord Stream 2 AG. It is reported that the rules of the European Union gas directives will not apply to the Nord Stream project in the Federal Republic of Germany within the next 20 years. It should be noted that earlier today the Court of General Jurisdiction of the European Union rejected the claims of Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 AG against the decision of the EU to extend the rules of the gas directive to the Nord Stream 2 project. The court stated that the EU gas directive does not directly affect the interests of Nord Stream 2 AG and Nord Stream AG. As previously reported by the news agency, the U.S. authorities are trying to actively resist the completion of the construction of Northern Stream 2. The Americans have already managed to disrupt the deadline for the completion of the pipeline, threatening the companies involved in the laying of the pipe with severe sanctions. Russia will now build Nord Stream 2 on its own.
