Unemployment rate in China's urban areas fell in March
China's labor market improved significantly in March, leaving unemployment in urban areas at 5.9%, Xinhua news agency reported on April 17. Studies have shown that unemployment in March in China decreased by 0.3 percentage points relative to February, the National Bureau of Statistics of the PRC reported. Just 2.29 million new jobs were created in the first quarter of 2020. The unemployment rate for people aged 25 to 59, the majority age group, was 5.4% in March, down 0.2 percentage points from February. The urban unemployment rate in 31's largest city was 5.7% in March.
