Georgian authorities may hold early parliamentary elections - Dziziguri

Early parliamentary elections in Georgia in 2020 are quite possible. This assumption was made on February 12 by former Vice-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, leader of the Conservative Party Zviad Dzidziguri on the TV channel Palitranus. The politician suggested that early parliamentary elections could take place in May or April. He noted that this is possible under the current legislation of Georgia, but the authorities in this case will be at a disadvantage. In the event of early elections, the authorities will remain losers, as against this background the postponement of the elections will be perceived by the population as a factor of opposition pressure, which will give the psychological advantage to the opposition, said Dziziguri. As the news agency reported, political conflict between the ruling Georgian Dream Party and the united opposition is growing in Georgia. Opposition parties are demanding a proportional voting pattern for the 2020 parliamentary elections. Elections are scheduled for October.
